How Every Business Can Attract Gen Z Consumers With 9 Easy Steps

Gen Z Consumers are becoming one of the most significant buying powers for small businesses. This consumer base will be spending an average of $44 billion a year and are more likely to buy based on experiences. Who are the Gen Z consumers, you may ask? Well, here are the things you should know: one, they were born between 1996 and 2014, and two, they’re the first generation who’s had easy access to technology most of their lives. These consumers are young, adventurous, and want to live life to the fullest. Curious about how your business can get in front of this $44 billion? Utilize this list below and start raking in cash.

1. Stop using only traditional media

First on this list is the shift from traditional media to digital platforms. Gen Z consumers don’t care about flyers, billboards, or commercials; they have spent the bulk of their life avoiding these channels because they are notoriously “selly.” Instead, Gen Z consumers look for buying with companies they can connect with and tell a story. If your company can tell an impactful story, you will see a consumer that starts to care.

2. Be authentic in what you post

Too many companies try to become something they are not in an attempt to attract new customers. This is not the correct method and will negatively impact a business 99/100 times. Instead, companies should find what makes them unique and showcase this. Our recommendations would be to find your core values, research what makes your company unique, and lastly, find what pain points you can solve in your consumer market and showcase that. A great way to do this is by utilizing your location; follow this blog to learn more about it.

3. Don’t follow fake trends that don’t involve your business

One of the most annoying things in marketing is when companies see something that works for another brand and tell us, “just do what they are doing.” Gen Z consumers will rip right through this, and you will most likely lose all credibility in their minds. Instead, use #2 as a stepping stone and create something that is a unique representation of your brand, and for the love of God, don’t try and make memes…

4. Create high-quality content

Possibly the easiest on this list is creating quality content. When I say quality content, I don’t mean that you need to spend thousands on a fancy camera; instead, make sure your content is not grainy, blurry, or dark. Since phone cameras have exploded in power within the last few years, quality content shouldn’t be a problem, and someone on your team should know how to take a quality picture.

5. Utilize video in your content

One of the biggest up-and-coming trends in digital marketing is the use of video content. This is a fantastic way to showcase very complex information with ease. Use faces, show emotion, and tell your story through video; the algorithms will thank you for it.

6. Cut the generic posts

No one cares about your holiday posts that just say “happy holidays.” They’re boring, unauthentic, and all-out a waste of time. Instead, create content that incorporates your brand. For more things to about, check out this post on the hard truths of marketing.

7. Focus on experiences rather than selling

Gen Z consumers don’t want to be sold; they want to be provided value. Showcase value, and you will see sales go up; it’s as simple as that. Showcase what value your company has and go from there.

8. Gen Z consumers love when companies showcase quick stories

10-20 second clips showcasing something unique are easily digested, and Gen Z consumers love them. Create ones specific to your field, and you will see big jumps. Remember: if you find it exciting, someone else will. Create content you want to see.

9. Gen Z Use every social media channel differently

If you can believe it, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram are all very different platforms. Digital marketing isn’t a one size fits all medium. Create unique content calendars for each platform that utilize each of its strong points

Facebook: the community factor – utilize questions and share-worthy content to see best results

Instagram: the image factor – Instagram utilizes photo-heavy content

TikTok: The short video factor – showcase fun little tidbits that make your company/industry unique. Again if you would want to watch it, someone else would as well. Side note: if you advertise using TikTok, create TikTok’s, not Ads.
