Google maps is one of the most underrated tools used by businesses in today’s business world. This sole platform accounts for over 90% of organic views on the internet and has become a make or break for many consumers. In this article, we will break down the five tips on how to utilize Google maps to get your business on the map (literally).

Tip #1: Ask for reviews

Asking for reviews can be one of the most daunting activities that any business owner has to do in their everyday operations. This is due to the possibility of getting a dreaded bad review. This shouldn’t be a worry and if you are doing business right can lead to tons of great testimonials regarding your business. Our best recommendation is after working with each customer make sure to ask if they would be willing to write a review either in person or via email.

Tip #2: Cater your pictures to help cater your story

Google offers businesses an easy way to showcase their products via pictures (showcased below). Businesses should cater these few images to tell a story, entice, or inform people on why they should choose their product/service over the hundreds of others in the area. For products/food our team recommends showcasing your top sellers (high-quality images) and for services, we recommend showcasing your offerings/relevant information. The community is also a great way to get those photo’s feel free to use those posted on your reviews.

Tip #3: Respond to any review good or bad

Not every reviewer is going to have a good experience, and no matter how good your product it some will find a way to find it negative. Make sure to engage with these customers and give them a place they can contact. Most of the time there was some sort of miscommunication and once the consumer gets the help they will take the negative review down. For good reviews make sure to thank the customer for working with your business and make it as personalized as possible, this creates brand loyalty which will bring them back.

Tip #4: Keep your information up to date

Businesses are constantly evolving and things change. Make sure to keep those changes up to date on Google. This includes time, location, services, website, etc. In the day and age where hundreds of other options exist make sure you don’t lose a loyal customer due to your information not being current. The biggest thing to keep up to date is your store hours. Make sure your hours are always up to date and in check with your website.

Your location may be the most important aspect of Google. When consumers search one of the biggest things they look for is service near me.
