Trick #1) Get listed on Google

The absolute easiest thing you can do as a business owner is to get yourself listed on Google through the Google Business Profile (formerly known as Google My Business). This is absolutely free and will significantly boost your SEO for your business’s name and location. Fine-tuning this listing and getting powerful reviews are also great ways to get your business to rank higher. Below is an example of what we mean. This is based on one of our SEO clients www.northshoreinline.com. Once you’ve gotten listed the next step is starting to get 5-star reviews.

Trick #2) Create a list of curated keywords and implement them in website

Google uses online “spiders” that crawl the internet looking for relevant words and phrases (known as keywords). They then take those keywords and rank them based on relevancy and importance. Creating a list of powerful keywords for your business and implementing them into your website is a simple tactic to get your website higher on the search results.

A great tool to see where you currently rank is The Hoth and the SEMRush’s Backlink Checker (Links below). Both of these great websites are free to use and will give a great baseline to see how you can improve.

Trick #3) Write blogs people want to read about your industry or location

This blog is a great example of how blogs work. Somehow you found this blog by a marketing agency based out of Duluth, Minnesota. If you were to search our previous blogs (found here https://findenmarketing.com/blog) you would realize that they are usually hitting two things 1) marketing 2) our location of Duluth, Minnesota. Blogs are an absolutely fantastic way to get your name out if you are an expert in your field. We recommend writing weekly to biweekly blogs on whatever you are feeling. This could be about your company, industry, or location. If you need some motivation check out another one of our blogs called “A step by step guide on how to write a good blog” https://findenmarketing.com/a-step-by-step-guide-on-how-to-write-a-great-blog

Trick #4) Get your business in the news

Do you want to really grow your SEO? Getting in the news is one of the quickest ways to do it! News organizations are notorious for having great relevancy and can help lead you to grow your SEO. Again using our example of the NorthShore Inline Marathon. You can see that they have been listed in multiple articles that push back to their website. If you do anything interesting or newsworthy make sure to reach out to your local press to get it covered.

Trick #5) Get more backlinks

A backlink are Links on websites other than your own that go back to a page on your website. Backlinks are also called inbound links because they represent another website’s traffic coming to your own site. The quality and quantity of your backlinks can help you rank higher in search engines such as Google and Bing. It’s simple math  More Quality Backlinks = Higher SEO. The keyword in that equation is “Quality”. Google takes the quality of the site that is referring back to you.

Trick #6) Run Online Ads

Most people don’t think about paid media as a benefit to your website’s SEO. Running highly relevant ads to a highly targeted audience is going to bring more traffic to your pages. This will help boost your organic rank over time. While this is usually not the primary goal for a business, paid search and social allows you two knock out two birds with one stone.

Trick #7) Grow your social media

Social media is a BIG factor when search engines are choosing relevancy.  Having a social media presence and growing it can help grow your search relevancy. Just having these social media platforms is a fantastic way to keep your customers up to date and attract new ones. Our recommendation is starting with the big three Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. For more information on these platforms make sure to check out our other blogs at www.findenmarketing.com/blog

Trick #8) Optimize Your Page Title and Meta Description

The by far most technical trick on our list is optimizing the backend of your website to fit your keywords. This varies in difficulty based on your web platform (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, etc) with WordPress being the most difficult. We recommend trying it yourself, but reaching out to the professionals as they will be able to get you the best results. A great way to see this is by doing a website audit like the one below. We use a platform called SEMRush to complete a full in-depth look at our websites and how we can make them better.
