The Best Senior Photo Locations in Duluth Minnesota

In a city that offers over 100 parks, 11,000 acres of green space, and over 150 miles of hiking trails in its city limits it may be somewhat difficult to find the perfect spot to get your senior photos. Today our team has narrowed down our 12 favorite senior photo locations in Duluth Minnesota. These are some of the most iconic, unique, and Duluthian locations that we could find and should help your senior pictures stand out! This list is pretty open-ended as we want your photographer to have the say on specifics, but we offer 12 great locations that could get the ball rolling. We have broken it down into 3 categories: nature, Duluth, and places with nice walls. If you have any questions or have some locations you want people to know about let us know at andrew@findenmarketing.com.

Nature Photoshoot Locations

Ely’s Peak

If you are looking for a cool nature spot that other seniors won’t use; look no further than Ely’s Peak. This trail system offers a wide variety of rocky landscapes, forests, and tunnels that is sure to help you get the perfect shot. This is one of our go-to photography locations with any client as it offers so many options. We recommend checking out the decommissioned train tunnel and then making your way to the top of the peak for some amazing views, and great photo potential.

Seven Bridges Trail

Another one of our go-to spots is the Seven Bridges. Seven Bridges road offers (if you can believe it) seven bridges that you can get photos of. This secluded area offers lush forests and a great windy road perfect for any road shots. This area does get busy during the weekend so we recommend going during the weekday or later in the day.

The Rose Garden

Another staple on your Duluth photo spots in the Rose Garden. This beautiful area offers a wide range of structures for you to take photos with including fountains, a gazebo, and (if you time it right) thousands of roses. Another option is going down the trail a bit and getting right on the lakeshore near Leif Erickson Park.

Gooseberry Falls

If you aren’t feeling the inner Duluth landscape one of the most popular escapes is Gooseberry Falls. This state park offers beautiful wooden stretches, waterfalls, and rocky terrain perfect for any outdoor enthusiasts. If you are looking to get away from the crowds going downstream to the mouth of the river offers secluded scenes that many travelers don’t see.

Black Sand Beach

After making your way to Gooseberry, we recommend continuing your journey up the shore until you hit the black sand beach in Silver Bay. This awe-inspiring beach is perfect for a nice photo shoot that offers unique rock formations, great views of the lake, and of course black sand.

Duluth Photoshoot Locations

Glensheen Mansion

If you are looking for a Duluth staple look no further. The 27-acre estate offers so many unique photo opportunities. This is perfect for the history lover, nature enthusiast, or any enjoyer of mansions. The big downside is that to get on the grounds you will have to buy a grounds pass for $5 a person (it is definitely worth it).

The Aerial Liftbridge

We couldn’t leave out this classic. How else would people tell you’re from Duluth without the 900-ton piece of steel. This is the go-to senior photo location for any Duluthian and offers a wide range of potential shots including the lighthouses, the icebox, and of course the lift bridge itself. We recommend going to take these photos earlier in the morning as the lift bridge is one of the most popular attractions in Duluth.

Enger Tower

Another popular structure is the Enger Tower. This park (designed with an Asian inspiration) offers lush forest, unique terrain, cool gazebos, and the might Enger Tower. This is the perfect spot if you are looking for one location with a lot of offerings.

Brighton Beach or 42nd ave Beach

Two of our more hidden locations on this list are Brighton Beach and 42nd ave Beach. These secluded areas offer up close and person lake shots that are guaranteed to take your breath away. This is a perfect location if you are looking to be in a more secluded location and want to take your time to get the perfect shot.

Places with nice walls Photoshoot Locations

Behind Vikre’s distillery

The most random location goes to this spot. Behind Vikre’s distillery is a parking lot that offers a fantastic brick wall perfect for that headshot that you always dreamed of.

The Aerostitch Building (Lincoln Park)

Another spot with an amazing brick wall is the Aerostitch building in the lincoln park district. Stop and take a look on the weekends (when they aren’t open) and be amazed by the unique colors of the brick.

The University of Minnesota Duluth

The University of Minnesota Duluth has so many unique buildings that offer a great backdrop to any photos. Our two favorite locations are their civil engineering building and business school. The civil engineering building offers rustic steel perfect for a backdrop, and their business school offers big windows and a modernistic design.
